Today’s Wedding Wednesday is going to feature a different part of the wedding day, the Chinese tea ceremony.
Traditionally in Chinese culture, the tea ceremony is performed to pay respect to the parents and elders of the bride and groom. The tea ceremony is a very formal and significant event and is followed by the presentation of gifts.
However, before the tea ceremony can begin the groom and his groomsmen must fetch the bride and endure a round of door games and bargaining with the bridesmaids in order to gain entry into the bride’s home. The door is typically blocked off and only when the bridesmaids are pleased with the grooms sincerity and love, is he allowed in.
Check out Winnie and Kevin’s tea ceremony below! Our personal favourite moments would have to be the groomsmen serenading the bridesmaids with Backstreet Boys songs and of course the dog with the balloon tied around him! He looks like he belongs in the movie Up!
Happy viewing!
