Warm & Chic Bridal Looks for Winter

I’ve always been a summer wedding kinda girl. I like the idea of an outdoor wedding and a strapless gown and the way a summer night just eases on. However, every year around winter time I get slightly swayed to the dark side as I see all the chic bridal looks winter brides come up with. I think it may have something to do with my obsession with the holidays and twinkle lights. So many brides think they’re limited style wise in the winter but that’s not the case at all. Quite the opposite in fact. Winter brides have the ability to add layers and texture, giving their bridal style some extra dimension and multiple looks throughout their big day without having to splurge on a second dress. Best of all, you likely already have most of these items kicking around your closet! Don’t be afraid to mix a casual item with your dress. Some of the best bridal looks are those that mix it up. So let’s break down some winter bridal style options!

Boyfriend Blazer

A stylish classic. You can never go wrong with a sharp blazer, whether it’s yours or your handsome grooms, something about pairing the soft, feminine wedding gown with the structured, masculine tailoring of a blazer just screams perfection. This look works all year round, but in the colder months add some dimension with warm textures like tweed or velvet.

Leather Jacket

An edgy combo! The softness of the wedding gown balances out the hardness of the leather jacket to create the perfect stylish bridal look.

Sequin Cardigan

How perfect is a sequin jacket to top off your bridal gown in the winter months? It adds a needed oomph of colour to the monotone background of winter landscape and is perfectly suited for the holidays. It brightens your complexion, adds an extra sparkle to your big day and is the perfect addition to your closet.

Faux-Fur

Whether in scarf, coat or shawl form, the faux-fur coverup will never go out of style. It’s the perfect cozy-chic addition to your winter bridal look. Faux-fur always looks lux and pairs well with both casual weddings and luxury weddings.

Capes & Coats

Capes are all the rage these days. And why not? They’re regal, formal and on a day you want to feel like a princess, the cape really brings that feeling to the forefront. Capes can be done sheer, with a heavy fur or in a crisp winter white.

Knit Sweaters

The epitome of coziness is the chunky knit sweater and who says your can’t be cozy on your wedding day? Pair your bridal gown with a knit sweater or cardigan to add an extra layer and texture to your look. If your day is a bit more on the casual end, pair a knit sweater with a tulle skirt. If your day is on the fancier end, pair your gown with a nice cardigan that can be easily removed.
