In Canada, May 2-4, aka the Victoria Day long weekend, is the start to the summer season. It’s probably one of the most celebrated long weekends of the year (yes, even more so than Canada Day long weekend) because it signifies the end of gross weather and the start of a few months of warmth. Typically, May 2-4 weekend also means camping or cottaging. So with that said, we’re going to share some wedding inspiration today, camping style. Why would you have a camping style wedding? Let us break down the reasons why you should.
They’re on Trend (100% all natural rustic)
Wood? Check. Foliage? Check. Greenery? Check. Everything you need for a rustic wedding is already there. You’ll save so much of your budget not having to decorate a space as a campground is already beautiful. All you need to do is toss in some plaid, some lanterns and maybe some fun tin mugs and you’re good to go.
Your Overnight Accommodations are RIGHT THERE
Holy nostalgia batman! It’s like reliving your youth with a giant slumber party, except this time there are adult beverages brimming to the rim in canoes and in cute customized cozies.
Outdoor Games Galore
Give your guests something fun to do during cocktail hour with old fashioned summer camp games. More nostalgia!
Have an Authentic Bonfire with Smores
Need I say more? Camping and smores goes hand in hand. And there is nothing quite like a bonfire (and maybe a sing along) with smores to round out a perfect wedding day!
Wide Open Spaces
The world is your oyster as they say. If an outdoor wedding is what you want, think of all the options a campground would provide. It is quite literally the perfect location for a tent wedding.
Nobody Else is Doing It
This is not your typical cookie cutter wedding. Brownie points for creativity and your guests will appreciate something different, especially in the thick of wedding season.
Turn your wedding into a fun weekend event
How often do your friends and family come together anyways? Give people the option of turning your wedding into a true camping experience by camping out for the weekend. Provide maps, suggestions of places to visit, trails to hike and gather together at the end of the day for a dinner and bonfire.
Have we convinced you? If not a wedding weekend, a summer camp themed event would also be perfect for a bachelor/bachelorette weekend, rehearsal dinner-weekend, or a mini honeymoon. Have you ever gone to a wedding at a campground? Share in the comment section if you have. We love to hear from you!
Have an amazing long weekend everyone and be safe out there!
