Christmas has come and gone and the countdown to 2015 has officially begun with only 3 days left in 2014! Where has the year gone? What an incredible year it has been full of so many weddings and wonderful couples. We’re incredibly thankful to have shared in so many wedding days and wish our 2014 newlyweds all the happiness in the world moving forward into 2015.
Speaking of 2015, New Years Eve is in a few days and what a perfect day to celebrate a wedding! To us, NYE is all about celebration, romance and new beginnings. It’s an evening to reflect on all the blessings and hardships of the previous year and to welcome in a fresh start for a New Year. It’s such a romantic evening and is the perfect night to celebrate a new start as husband and wife while surrounded by loved ones. If you’re getting married this NYE or just got engaged and are thinking of a NYE wedding in the future, this post is for you! We’re sharing five tips for a New Years Eve wedding from Percy Handmade.
- Plan early. On a date like New Years Eve, be sure to book your venue and ceremony location early to avoid disappointment. No doubt there will other couples keen to secure this special date! Don’t forget, New Years Eve is a popular date for charities and fundraising galas/events so some venues may be booked 12-18 months ahead of time.
- Check the curfew time of your wedding venue. Some venues have strict curfews where they need to close by a certain time to avoid noise pollution for nearby residents. It’s always a good idea to double check that your venue will allow you to stick around to see in the new year.
- Notify guests with Save the Dates/invitations ASAP. Give your guests lots of notice so they can get their travel plans and affairs in order. This will be really important for guests who need to travel interstate and book hotels. Hotels are extremely pricey at New Years so they might be able to secure a better deal on rooms and flights if they book early.
- Consider timing of food and drinks. It would be a shame to have a mid-afternoon reception on New Years Eve for your bridal party and guests to then fizzle out early in the evening. A reception time that starts a little later in the evening means that your guests and the bridal party will be bright eyed at midnight when the clock strikes 12!
- Consider transport arrangements. Taxis and cabs might be hard to book on a date like New Years Eve. If you’re looking to organize a wedding on NYE, think about the logistics of getting your guests from the ceremony to the reception. Perhaps book a hotel for the reception that’s within walking distance of the ceremony so you guests can arrive at the reception easily. It’s also a great spot for your guests to stay the night also.
Keep in mind also, New Years Eve means different things to different people. Many people like to do their own thing on New Years and prefer a more private escape with their families whereas some people love to celebrate and bring in the new year with everyone and anyone. Try to make it as easy as possible for your guests to attend the wedding by reserving rooms in hotels early and giving lots of notice.
So, enjoy your last few days of 2014 and prepare to start 2015 with a bang! What are your New Years Eve plans? Are you getting married or attending a NYE wedding? Share in the comment section. We’d love to hear from you!
Happy Holidays!
