Being a wedding videography company, Brightside Films has been to many a wedding. We love to see how creative some couples can be with the styling and decor by putting their own personal stamp on their big day. One place we find creativity really shines is the sign in table and guest book. Whether your wedding is classic, modern, rustic, big or small, the sign in table doesn’t have to be a traditional guest book. Use this station as an opportunity to think outside the box and showcase your creativity. The key here is to find something that suits YOU and play with it. If you and your partner love canoeing, have a paddle as your guest book. If you’re a boardgame aficiando, have your favourite game for guests to write on. Still out of ideas? Browse through some of these options below! Share what you’ll be doing for your guest book in the comment section! We’d love to hear from you.
Polaroids
Whether you’re hanging them up to display or including an album for guests to put their pictures in with little notes, polaroids continue to be a classic way to capture memories. This guest book alternative will give you a chance to get a photo of all your wedding guests who might not necessarily be captured by the busy photographers and videographers. Plus, if you have a large wedding, this will make sending those thank you notes SO much easier.
Vintage Typewriters
For the writers and literary lovers this is the way to go. Not only is it a great decor piece, it’s classic and you can frame the result. Plus, it’s incredibly romantic.
Wine Bottles
Splurge on some nice wines from the year of your wedding for guests to sign. Open a single bottle on your first and other milestone anniversaries and re-read the wonderful wishes and love from your guests. When you’re done, keep the bottles on display in a nice wine rack. What a way to celebrate!
Decor Pieces
A lot of the time guest books just collect dust sitting in book shelves. That won’t be the case with these items. Put your love on display with these decor pieces. It’ll make you smile every time you see it.
Hand Stitched Quilt
The best gifts are oftentimes hand made. You will feel literally wrapped in love everytime you curl up with this quilt. Guests sign a square and they can either be pre-assembled or put together afterwards. This would be great for a cottage or a throw over your bed.
Message In a Bottle
Similar to the wine bottles but without the wine! Collect multiple vintage bottles and have guests write words of advice, love and well wishes on small pieces of paper and slip them inside. You can read them all after the wedding or save a bottle for your milestone anniversaries. A great way to celebrate and it’s like opening multiple little presents!
Maps and Globes
If you and your honey are world travelers, this is the way to go. Have guests sign a world map or globe and keep it on display. Better yet, have them sign a place where they recommend you visit.
Fun and Games
What’s a wedding without a little fun? Turn your guest book into a future game for you and your future family to do together. Or play with words with a dictionary. Have guests circle a word that reminds them of you and sign alongside it. It’ll make for some good laughs when you go to use it for something totally unrelated.
